Let the waiting begin!
Hello! My goodness it's been a while. Since my last post Pete and I have been working furiously to complete our home study and dossier. The date sort of snuck up on us, and we realized we had a lot to do, and not a lot of time. Our home study social worker was awesome and I think she completed our home study in record time. After a few bumps in the road with Kentucky paperwork, we completed it all a few days before Christmas, the paperwork was scheduled to arrive at our agency today and the relief I feel in my heart cannot be put into words. What does this mean? As long as we did everything right, we will be on the waiting list this month! Our documents will be sent to Ethiopia for translation, and our waiting begins. We have one more set of fingerprints to complete that will give us the favorable determination letter from the United States government, but other than that it's the glorious and gut wrenching wait. Everyone asks how long... The average wait right now is two years, for a boy or girl. It could be shorter, it could be longer. Pray for shorter! We have been approved for a "healthy" boy or girl 0-12 months. " healthy" is relative here because it's likely the child will have some issue or issues that need to be addressed. Once we get our numbers on the wait list and we tell our family and friends, I will post about it. The past seven months have been a whirlwind, we are praying God moves mountains and we bring our baby home soon!
